Coastal residents tend to refer to Fuengirola as Funky Town because of its extensive bars and general craziness during the summer. Daytime Fuengirola is buzzing, with miles of promanades and lengthy beaches filled with a myriad half-naked, sunburnt tourists and when the sun sets it transforms into one of the liveliest places to enjoy an evening out on the Coast. The main action occurs close to the beach, along the front by the Marina and it is here that you will find most of the nocturnal activity.

You would be well-advised to consider starting your evening with a meal in one of  Fuengirola's many themed restaurants. Area 51 is a particular marbellalife.com favourite because they serve big, tasty, American-style burgers. If you're feeling reckless have a go at The Joker drinking game before you head off into town. Start with a pint or two of Guinness at Irish Times and enjoy the ambience. Always popular and just around the corner is a great little sandwich shop that stays open until late and serves the best sandwiches that you'll find in Fuengirola.

After this head down to the front, which is just a hop, skip and jump away - but don't try this after five pints! Here you will find some of the best known clubs in town. The London Pub is popular and doubles as a meeting point, while close by is the Beetle, which usually offers 'two for one' on drinks. There are several popular clubs in the area including the Old Town, which has a very cosmopolitan feel to it and tends to be the busiest, particularly on more Spanish orientated nights.

The most famous club amongst English tourists is Linekar's in the Marina, a sports bar which shows all the major sporting events. Inside they specialise in the type of international commercial music which is popular all year round, but particularly during the summer months and occasionally visiting celebrities are persuaded to host autograph signing sessions.

Bars and clubs are dotted all over Fuengirola and the whole town stays open late so night owls won't have to go to bed until well into the small hours in the morning.

Dress Code
Dress is casual, although it is worth bearing in mind that some clubs don't particularly like footwear such as trainers, so wear an informal alternative.

Transport
Fuengirola's bus station is located only minutes away from the town and is well connected to the rest of the Coast. Taxi ranks are also located at various points in the town. Car parking can be near impossible, especially during the summer. Trying to find a space is a frustrating experience, but be careful, since your car will be towed away if it's illegally parked.

Money and Safety
Fuengirola is a tourist friendly town that wants to keep people coming back year after year and its prices reflect this. You can have a good night by yourself for as little as 30€, but if you want to have dinner first and then go to a club you will need about 60€.

Fuengirola is generally safe although drunken altercations do occur. A fairly solid police presence deters most criminal activities, though.
