Why Buy in Andalucia?
Andalucia is the embodiment of everything that people associate with beauty, culture, good living and social grace. No matter where you are in this lush and verdant land you cannot help but be captured by the colour of both the area and the people. For those who are residents here, everyday brings something new. For those that visit here, everyday there's another reason to come back again. Whether you want to enjoy everything life has to offer or are content to just sit back and watch the world go, by there is something for everyone in this charismatic and historic region.
Andalucia combines the perfect blend of history with modern day living and culture. The weather here is excellent with an annual mean temperature of 22° and more than 300 days of uninterrupted sunshine a year. It is therefore no wonder that so many Europeans and North Americans are making many parts of Andalucia their homes. In particular the South coast or Costa del Sol has become famous over the last two decades for its association with good living and the social elite of Europe. While the majority of these rumours are grossly overstated it can be said that the South of Spain brings a quality to life seldom found in other parts. Where else can you spend the day on the beach and then at the throw of a dice be up in the Granada mountains of Sierra Nevada? Where else can you enjoy the best international cuisine in Europe in small picturesque mountain towns before heading to some of Europe's most sophisticated and popular marina based nightspots? Where else but in Andalucia!
The Property Market
During the later part of the 1980s the property market on the Costa del Sol had reached its peak as the best selling area in Europe. People loved the image associated with it and more importantly they found the gorgeous weather most agreeable. Unfortunately this peak was not to last and the market crashed when property in the area became just to high in price. This slump continued into the early parts of the 1990s until the development of better transport systems in the area as well as a general clean up of the various towns along the coast saw a dramatic improvement in overall standards on the coast. This made the area a more attractive proposition to outside investors looking to buy. In particular, Marbella has entered a new era, and good times have returned to the property market. Marbella has become a world class resort, with a solid infrastructure, cleanliness, excellent security and a local administration which really cares and works. The result being, that a huge number of buyers are now coming to the coast with a firm intention to purchase. In other words Marbella has gained unprecedented acceptability from a more demanding and sophisticated market. But the buyer's problem finding a suitable property, negotiating for its purchase, and closing the sale remains more difficult than in his own country: as in most resort areas everybody seems to be in the business, from the taxi driver to the hall porter in the Hotel. Property is everyone's favourite subject of conversation, and almost everyone is going to have opinions, many of which can easily confuse a potential purchaser.
